Vivien Wong

Vivien Wong is a rising senior at Cornell University double-majoring in Psychology and English with a minor in Nutrition & Health. She was introduced to the mental health field through crisis counseling and is particularly interested in how global mental health interacts with culture and the law.

As a Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health summer intern, she contributed to humanitarian and implementation science research under the mentorship of Dr. Sabrina Hermosilla and Tanvi Jain. For Children Not Workers, a project focused on evaluating community-based models supporting children in forced labor in Ecuador, Nepal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Vivien assisted with creating a child protection programming framework for a Good Shepherd International Foundation support center in Ecuador. She also worked on the qualitative analysis of the Ukraine-specific data in Sport Coach+, empowering coaches with the knowledge, skills and techniques to support young people affected by displacement.

Vivien leaves this internship with immense gratitude, inspired by the enthusiasm of the other interns and supported by a wonderful network of mentors. She is looking forward to continuing her research into the fall, working on the qualitative analysis of child labor community programming in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
