Sriya Dhupati (she/her/hers) is a rising senior at Duke University, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Chemistry and Music. Her interests lie in improving equitability and access to healthcare, reducing mental health stigma, and exploring the intersection of culture, healthcare, and the humanities across various age groups. During the GMHP internship, Sriya worked in the lab of Dr. Reuben Robbins to validate Neuroscreen, an app designed to screen for neurocognitive impairment in people living with HIV. She contributed to studies assessing the validity and usability of the app for children, adolescents, and adults in Uganda and South Africa through interview transcription and data monitoring. Sriya also had opportunities to learn about qualitative research, new advancements in the field, and the challenges and rewards of global mental health research through attending and participating in lab meetings and journal clubs. Outside of her work on these projects, Sriya corresponded and conducted interviews with former Global Mental Health Scholars and Council Grant Recipients to learn about their work, careers, and the far-reaching impact of the Global Mental Health Programs. She is excited to apply the insights into research, ethics, and mental health that she gained this summer to her future clinical and research endeavors.
