Anya Jacoby

Anya Jacoby is entering her second year of the Master of Public Health program at Columbia in the Epidemiology Department with a certificate in Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research. She is particularly interested in chronic disease and psychiatric epidemiology, with her previous research focusing on substance use disorder.

During her time as a practicum student, Anya worked on creating the climate modules for the FLII-11 in Qualtrics and conducted quantitative analysis of survey results from the Interview Experience Questionnaire administered alongside the FLII-11 in Sri Lanka. Outside of the FLII-11 project, she also supported qualitative analysis, program evaluation, and manuscript development for projects with Psych Corps and BasicNeeds Ghana, two mental health organizations based in Ghana. Throughout the practicum, Anya built skills in statistical analysis, qualitative coding, and global health work with the WHO and international NGOs. Her work with the CCGMH has shown her the intricacies of global health work, exposing her to challenges such as limited or missing data, addressing local politics, and coordination efforts across multiple countries.

Anya looks forward to continuing her work with the CCGMH on projects that deepen our understanding of the prevalence, drivers, and treatment of mental health conditions globally.
