Global Mental Health Scholars Program

Columbia Global Mental Health Scholars are distinguished researchers with expertise in a particular area of mental and behavioral disorders.

About The Program

Founded in 2016, the Global Mental Health Scholars Program offers researchers at different levels of professional development the opportunity to elevate their research on a global scale. GMH Scholars engage in a broad range of work that advances mental health assessment, service delivery and training in their communities. For example, Scholars leverage their areas of expertise (e.g. mood disorders, psychotic disorders, culture & psychopathology) to provide leadership and support for research related to the development and implementation of key interventions and policy changes. Scholars are also actively leading global research to assess the adaptation and dissemination of evidence-based treatments in low-resourced settings. To date, the GMH Scholars Program has supported 18 individuals with representation from numerous countries, including Brazil, India, Lebanon, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Open to postdoctoral scientists, research fellows, and faculty committed to a research career in mental and behavioral disorders, application submissions are accepted on an invitational basis.
