Zoe Siegel (YPB), MPH

Chair of the Young Professionals Board

Reaching my position in the Columbia-WHO Center for Global Mental Health Young Professionals Board felt like a natural next step in my journey. I’ve worked as an intern, a full time employee, Young Professional, and now Chair of the Young Professionals Board. I am passionate about studying public health and ensuring fair and equitable access to care, so the Board has been an incredible outlet for learning and building a community along the way.

I believe global mental health is invaluable and find it hard to visualize our society progressing without giving it the necessary attention. For me, global mental health is at the root of how we grow, shape and ensure people around the world are cared for and respected regardless of who they are or where they live. My passion further stems from lived experiences. The issue of mental health hits close to home for many family and friends, so I want to do my part to give my energy towards this cause. As Chair of the Young Professionals Board in particular, I hope to maintain and continue to ensure young people are involved and aware of our Center’s missions and initiatives. Outside of the Board, I advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, women’s reproductive health and the environment.
